A Life of Divine Encounters is the story of Fred and Ruth Waugh and their humble place in church history over the past century to this very day. At ninety-eight, Fred and Ruth are living witnesses of many historic church movements, from Aimee Semple McPherson and the Pentecostal and Holiness movements, to Billy Graham, Kathryn Kuhlman, and the charismatic movement; they also have close ties to Lonnie Frisbee and the radical Jesus People movement.

For the greater part of his early life, however, Fred had an aversion to religion and focused instead on achieving business success, while Ruth faithfully prayed for years that her husband be born again. Then on an around-the-world trip that leads them to the Garden Tomb and a personal encounter with the living God, Fred has a genuine “heart transplant” that changes his life forever. Ever since, Fred and Ruth have become spiritual parents to a multitude of youth and instrumental in Christian universities such as Oral Roberts University, Biola, and Vanguard.

They have completely dedicated their lives to helping others experience the reality of the Holy Spirit, and as they near one hundred years old, pray their life story will encourage others to have their own divine encounters today.
